Gun Powder off BelAir Rd.

There's always that one place that you always go back to.

Gunpowder Falls State Park is now one of Maryland’s largest state parks. The park is divided into six areas: Hereford, Sweet Air, Central, Hammerman, Dundee Creek and the Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail. Gunpowder features more than 120 miles of multi-use trails, protected state wildlands, historic sites, fishing, kayaking, canoeing and a swimming beach and marina.

Our go-to Place...

The trail by Belair Road, in Kingsville, Maryland is our go-to place. It's about 15 mins out from our house. There'll be some days that we plan nothing and ended up "Let's go hike". The trail is Free Parking and Free Pass, unlike Hammerman where you have to pay $5.00 per car.

The trail is divided by BelAir Rd. East side has about 3 trails. West side has about 4 trails. Each side has a water access that people could enjoy swimming during Summertime, we haven't had a chance to dip into the waters yet.

Each trail is approximately an hour hike at regular speed. We once did a power walk in this trail and we're able to cut it down to 45 minutes. Our favorite part of this trail is when we cross the water, it could get a little challenging specially after the rain since the water flow is a little rapid. Sometimes we do the 2 trails in East side, on our way back we cut across to get in the other trail and that adds about 15 to 20 minutes on the hike.
